Friday night police chase results in one arrest
Lancashire Police have issued an update following last night’s pursuit of two e‑bikes in Blackpool which saw the National Police Air Service helicopter deployed over the town.
Officers say the chase began around 9.45pm when two e‑bikes were spotted driving dangerously. One rider was arrested after failing to stop.
The helicopter joined the pursuit around Stanley Park, with the search appearing to concentrate on that area. After around 20 minutes, the aircraft was seen heading through Layton, where eyewitnesses reported the chase near Collingwood Avenue and Layton Recreation Ground.

From there, the pursuit continued through Layton toward Bispham. One witness described police chasing an e‑bike along Warbeck Drive, while a public webcam on Redbank Road captured a glimpse of a rider making a U‑turn before heading back into Bispham.
Police confirmed one bike was recovered and a 24‑year‑old man remains in custody on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, possession of a bladed article and possession of Class B drugs.
Enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to contact 101 quoting log 1599 of 7 November.
The incident sparked debate online, with some questioning the cost of deploying the helicopter. However, officers point to the recovery of a knife and drugs as evidence of the risks posed by illegal e‑bike riders.
This comes only one night after an E-scooter rider came off with a passenger and sustained injuries. We reported on this yesterday in this article.
