From 1295 to 2045: How the Spirit of Lancashire Day is Driving Our Devolution Future

Today, November 27th, we proudly celebrate Lancashire Day, marking the moment in 1295 when our historic county first sent representatives to the Model Parliament. This tradition, observed annually with a loyal toast to “The King, Duke of Lancaster,” is a powerful reminder of our unique identity and allegiance to the Red Rose.

But the spirit of local representation and self-determination isn’t just history – it’s shaping Lancashire’s future right now through the new Devolution Deal.

The Combined County Authority and a Stronger Future

The establishment of the Lancashire Combined County Authority (CCA) represents the most significant recent move to give local leaders greater power and funding to drive change across the county, from Blackpool to Blackburn with Darwen and beyond. The CCA’s vision is focused on delivering a stronger economy, fairer opportunities, and a sustainable future for all residents.

🚗 Last Chance to Shape Our Transport Network

To turn this vision into reality, the new CCA is developing the Lancashire Local Transport Plan (LTP) 2025–2045 – a crucial strategy that will guide all decisions about how we travel for the next two decades. This plan covers all types of travel, including walking, cycling, buses, trains, cars, and freight, with the aim of creating a network that works for everyone, bringing wider benefits like better health and improved access to jobs.

If you live, work, or visit Lancashire, your input is vital in guiding the priorities of the CCA and making sure this plan works for you. This is your last chance to share your thoughts and help shape our transport future.

The consultation closes this Sunday, November 30th, and only takes a few minutes to complete.
