Blackpool Cinema Deal: ARC Cinemas Takes Over Backlot and Drops Ticket Prices to Just £5.95

Blackpool’s state-of-the-art cinema is entering an exciting new chapter this week as The Backlot Cinema & Diner officially joins The Arc Cinema family from Friday, 28 November. This rebrand brings a bold new identity and, crucially for local movie-goers, a complete overhaul of pricing with tickets now starting from only £5.95. This makes The Arc Cinema Blackpool one of the best-value premium experiences in the entire North West.

The Arc Cinema is an established, independent cinema chain owned by the Melcorpo Group, based in Ireland. They specialise in creating high-quality, community-focused cinema experiences and operate multiple venues across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. In the North West, they are known for running the modern eight-screen complex at the “Animate Cinema and Leisure Scheme” in nearby Preston City Centre, as well as sites in Great Yarmouth, Hucknall (Nottingham), and Ayr. The company prides itself on offering a “VIP experience at everyday prices”, which directly explains the introduction of the new £5.95 starting ticket price in Blackpool.

Lancashire’s Premier IMAX Screen Secured

The great news for film fans is that the cinema will retain all its signature features. This includes the luxurious comfort, exceptional sound, and most importantly, the massive IMAX screen, which is the only one in Lancashire. This colossal screen remains equipped with the cutting-edge IMAX with Laser system, ensuring the most immersive experience for blockbusters like Avatar: Fire & Ash arriving in December. Additionally, the existing staff, including General Manager Ben Jones, will all remain in place to deliver the same warm Blackpool welcome, securing local jobs.

Essential Visitor Information and Free Parking Details

The venue, located in the Houndshill Shopping Centre extension, remains a destination for premium entertainment. A major perk is the three hours of free parking at Houndshill Car Park – but visitors must validate their parking ticket at one of the dedicated stands inside the cinema immediately after their film to claim the discount.

  • A Note on the Diner: The American-style diner space is currently closed. The Arc Cinema does not operate restaurants and Blackpool Council is actively seeking a new operator for the unit. This means food options are currently limited to the cinema’s concessions.
  • General Manager Ben Jones noted: “Our team remains exactly the same, and we can’t wait for customers to enjoy the outstanding Arc Cinema experience – now with ticket prices from just £5.95.”

Showtimes and What to Book

To celebrate the launch, the ARC Cinema Blackpool is screening new hits like Wicked For Good and preparing for the highly anticipated Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 next Friday. They will also be celebrating the season with a fantastic programme of Christmas Classics starting this weekend.
