A 24-year-old local woman remains in police custody following a second stabbing incident on Cocker Street in Blackpool within the space of 36 hours.

Lancashire Constabulary and North West Ambulance Service paramedics were called to Cocker Street at 1:35am on Wednesday, 19 August, following reports that a man had been stabbed by a woman. On arrival, emergency responders found a man in his 20s suffering from stab wounds to his chest and hand. The victim was transported to hospital for urgent treatment, where he remains under medical care. Officers detained a 24-year-old woman from Blackpool at the scene on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.

The early-morning assault follows a separate violent confrontation that occurred on the same street on Monday, 17 August. Emergency services, including armed response units, were initially deployed to Cocker Street shortly before 3:15pm on Monday after an altercation broke out involving three men. During that incident, a man in his 30s sustained stab wounds and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following consultations with the Crown Prosecution Service, police charged 22-year-old Aaron McCabe, of Coleridge Road, Blackpool, with Section 18 wounding with intent. McCabe appeared before Lancaster Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning and was remanded in custody to appear before Preston Crown Court on 16 September. Lancashire Police confirmed that active enquiries remain underway to trace and arrest a second male suspect connected to Monday afternoon’s disturbance.
